BidX1, the digital property auctioneer, will be listing the historic Talybont Outdoor Activity Centre in its next online auction on Thursday 6th June.
The Grade II listed building, which has a guide price of £200,000, is located in the village of Talybont-on-Usk below Pen-y-Fan in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The activity centre has operated from the former railway station building for nearly 50 years, making it a local landmark.
The historic stone building with attractive two storey modern extension comprises 12 bedrooms for 36 guests, dining hall and kitchen. There is also extensive outdoor space and parking. The detached property is situated in a secluded four acre fenced site, overlooking the adjoining fields on the outskirts of the village.
The site has the potential, subject to planning and other consents, of being suited to a variety of uses including tourism or leisure, residential with rural enterprise, Bed & Breakfast or a hotel.
Simon Riggall, Director at BidX1 UK, commented: “Talybont Outdoor Centre has been a popular site with locals and tourists alike as a well-used centre for outdoor activities. We are pleased to be offering this historic site so that the next owner can reinvigorate what was once a popular destination, in such a stunning location.”
Talybont Outdoor Centre is owned by Newport City Council and operated as a residential outward-bound centre by Monmouthshire County Council on behalf of a consortium of nearby local authorities since circa 1996.
The centre will be offered as a freehold with vacant possession. It is well-located about 0.3 miles off the main A40, 6 miles from Brecon, 9 miles from Crickhowell (named in the Sunday Times as the best place to live in Wales as well as having the best High Street in the UK), 19 miles from Hay-on-Wye and 14 miles north of the vibrant market town of Abergavenny.
