BidX1 has submitted its first climate change disclosure to the CDP, a global non-profit that oversees the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform. The CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests.
Over 13,000 companies with over 64% of market capitalization have disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2021 – as well as more than 1,000 cities, states and regions – making the CDP platform one of the richest sources of information globally on how companies and governments are driving environmental change.
David Lammers, Deputy Director Corporate Engagement, CDP Europe, said: “By disclosing to CDP in 2021, BidX1 has demonstrated a commitment to corporate environmental transparency and made an important contribution to an economy that works for both people and planet.
“The scientific consensus on the need for urgent action on climate change has never been clearer; ambition this decade will determine how well we can protect our natural resources and avoid the worst effects of global climate change. As policy and corporate stakeholders continue to develop strategies for environmental protection and a low-carbon transition, the availability of reliable and comparable data will remain of vital importance.”
Eanna Glynn, Head of Sustainability at BidX1, said: “2021 has been an important year for sustainability at BidX1. Having announced carbon neutrality in March, our inaugural disclosure to the CDP marks a crucial step forward in terms of our environmental corporate governance, ranking us alongside global leaders in the reporting and accountability space.”
BidX1 has mapped emissions across every market, including emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2, as well as Scope 3 emissions like staff commuting, waste management, and data storage.
Enterprise Ireland supported BidX1’s carbon assessment through their GreenStart programme.
